Compassion

"Compassion will cure more sins than condemnation."
(Henry Word Beecher)

The word compassion is taken from the Latin word “passum” which means “suffered”. When we suffer from eating distress we are looking at suffering as something we want to get rid of. During the process of recovery we must realise that suffering is just a root from the beautiful tree of life and that the gift of compassion is one of the fruits that hangs from that tree.

Nobody can truly experience the wonderful gift of compassion without having first experienced some form of suffering in their own lives.

Our society is pressurising us to starve our bodies but that is only because we are suffering from the consequences of being firstly starved of compassion towards one another.

How compassionate are you on a scale of one to ten? Be honest in answering. Today will be a challenging day. Try to have compassion for anyone you meet today who you do not feel like giving your time, energy or understanding to.

Being able to be compassionate is connected in many ways with the final stages of your recovery.
Apart from that it also gives you a very nice warm feeling inside!

Today I have compassion for myself and those around me.
