Strategies the condition uses to keep us in condition

•Fears !! – The condition plays on our fears and creates new fears all the time.

•False evidence- condition makes you dismiss some aspects of evidence which could make you choose a pro-you choice. It also creates evidence which actually isn’t real. But it makes you believe it to be.

•False friend- Condition isn’t a real friend. It tricks you into thinking its keeping you safe, can be trusted, that you need it, that it has the answer to everything. But when we examine it more closely its evident that it has not got your best interest at heart. It cannot be trusted as it lies to you and it doesn’t want you to be happy or to have fun or be free to be you.

•It knows best what you need- It might tell you not to trust others because they don’t care about you, love you etc. But as mentioned above it doesn’t know what’s best for you. It denies you of your needs. The only needs it allows you are those which will harm you in the long term.

•Keeps your brain malnourished- by doing this it keeps you trapped in irrational thinking. When a person’s brain is not properly nourished it cannot make rational choices and it is too tired to fight negative thoughts. Therefore it keeps you stuck in condition thinking.

•Distorts your thinking- this goes hand in hand with a poorly nourished brain. You jump to conclusions, mind read, have black and white thinking, all or nothing thoughts etc.

•Isolates you from others- this strategy keeps you from other rational people who may challenge the condition and from normal life in general. Isolation therefore increases faulty thinking and makes condition stronger.

•Comparing- it makes you compare yourself to others to justify how it is correct and the rational thoughts from others or those you’ve learned must be irrational. But the evidence used in this comparing is false evidence. It makes you see what it wants you to see.

•Questions logic- any logical thinking from yourself or others which does not benefit condition it will question it. Eventually if you let it it will find false evidence to disprove it.

•Uses positive realisations against you- instead of learning from a realisation it can use this against you to strengthen the condition thinking.

Feel free to add to this list.

Very useful post

Hello Aideen, such a wonderful and helpful post.
Example of great awareness and good understanding, beautifully described.
It takes a while and a lot of hard work to realise how we are imprisoned by our negative, distorted thinking.
Thank you for sharing

Yesss!!;-D It destroys: It wants to take away your dreams and goals in life and make you feel unworthy of them.
