My dog Bella
Hey all :)
Just wanted to post a topic about my dog bella who I find a great help to me in recovery.. I got her as a tiny puppy back in April. My last dog had died nearly 2 years before and i just couldnt bring myself to get a new dog because I felt it would be like replacing him. But now i see thats not true :) finally I took the plunge and got Bella. Best thing i ever did. Now she is 8 months old and I can't imagine life without her now! I know it sounds sad but I see this dog as my best friend. She has been and still is a comfort to me during recovery on the days when I feel very down and hopeless. All I have to do is look at her and see how she doesnt have a care in the world when she runs around the house like a lunatic :) She shows unconditional love and loves to be cuddled and played with. Just give her an empty bottle and she's happy to spend 3 hours chewing on it. She keeps me going a lot of the time. She is an example of what i would call 'free' !
That's all i really wanted to say. Here is a picture of her :)
Aw Wow Penny,
Thanks so much for sharing this. I can completely relate to your post. There is just something I find with dogs that you just cannot be angry when looking at them. I find it so helpful, its like a force of positivity that just comes from them which is exactly what we need when we are going through our Recovery.
Your picture of Belle is absolutely adorable. He is a definite symbol of Freedom it seems :)

( Tried to upload a picture of my little dog Phoenix but couldn't do it :( )
that made me smile
Oh my Goodness, Penny, I don't blame you for saying that you can't imagine life without her... neither would I if she shared mine...
The most gorgeous fluffy dog, and she looks like a bundle of energy...
Well, and I'm sure she would never ever starve herself because she thinks she is too fat. Or scrutinise her hips or legs...
And could you ever imagine her barking to another dog what size she is, or that she can't eat dog biscuits, because they are fattening...???
I don't think so :D
Yes, a great example for freedom.
Love,

Hi Penny,
Oh my God Bella is so cute!! I can totally relate to what you are saying. I have a poodle I got when I was 14yrs old. I couldn't live without him! We grew up together he is always by my side in good times and bad. I think dogs are super sensitive too coz he can pick up my mood like a button! In fact he has helped me so much with self care! Before I was so restless I couldn't sit for a second! But when he came and sat on my lap he eased my mind, all I wanted to do is just pet him!
Thanks again for sharing Penny
Cudnt help but smile when I looked at Bella :) she looks so happy! My dog Alfie plays a big part in my recovery too, defo a best friend figure in my life!
