I .have being doing a mindfulness course lately and i wanted to share with you all some tips that i have been practising and that really have had the most magical effect on my life. Life is now amazing and it all comes about becasue i am living in the now

The techniques i have been practising, is first and foremost being conscious of the now, and really using your senses to be aware of the now. I found this strange to begin with but then i realised that all the thinking i was ever doing was just taking me away from the now. To be out of the now i have learned is a scary place so to be in it is a place of security.
- so remeber be conscious of the now, sue your sense to help you, what can you feel, taste etc. Breathe...deep breathes and armotherapy oils are excellent.

Next up be aware of your last thought at night and your first thought in the morning. If your one who thinks of what they have to do the next day, or begins their day with what they have to do, or moaning and groaning. STOP RIGHT THERE...STOP THOSE THOUGHTS THE MINUTE THEY START. Begin the day by saying 'yes its a beautiful day and thank you God', and at night say ' thank you God for this day'.

Now if you are one always jumping ahead, ie living in the future, thinking about what you have to do, seeing urself actually doing it, all of that is ur mind taking you out of the now, so you need to stop that right then and there. Say NO I'M NOT GOING THERE...LIVE WHERE YOUR BODY IS...if your body is on the bed , be in the bed, use your senses, ur self talk and ur breathing to centre urself.

Living where your body is one of the greatest places to be. So too is focusing on one thing at a time. If your peeling the carrots, be with the carrots as you peel them, same goes for tv.

I realise that my mind is jumping ahead all of the time, and tis exhausting so i need to retrain it, as i am not going to put up with that anymore. Also for so long i think it was a way to cope for me. But now, theres no need for that. There is no fear anymore. Why? Well i guess firstly i trust the now. Secondly , I trust myself, knowing that i will get things done. Thirdly, my head when it jumps into the future brings fear, so i couldnt be bother going with that anymore. So now i do things my way.

One last thing, be aware of ur triggers- listen to ur feelings. Thoughts of preplanning, feelings of impateince, overwhelmed, stress, tension, is all ur mind taking you into the now so you need to stop it there and then.

These are just some things that i found really have made a huge impact on my life. Like i said at the beginning, now i laugh when my head tries to scare me, cos its just trying to drag me into the future and thats a place i do not want to go to.

hope it helpsxxxxxx

Thank you

Thanks Emer!

Very interesting. I have been noticing this a little bit with myself this week - that when I feel unpleasant thoughts when I am in work I immediately plan my whole life and career instead of just accepting and living in the now and knowing that this is normal sometimes and it will pass.

Thanks for all the tips. Also read your previous post and so happy for you. For me, meeting my boyfriend has made such a difference in my recovery too. It's lovely meeting somebody you connect with so well - you spoke so beautifully and honestly about it all. Enjoy it - you deserve it 100%!!!
