Film:Warhorse
I saw a great film yesterday. Warhorse is set during world war 1 and its about a young boy and his relationship with a horse. I know...I thought thats a bit silly too when my friend and I were trying to decide what to see, but it was actually a fantastic film that evoked alot of emotion. My friend was in tears by the end of it.
I particularly love films that make me think, that have an impact on me. The horse was like a central connection throughout the film. Without giving too much away, he went to war and the boy followed his horse whom he trained to plow the field and work the land. The horse had many different experiences with many different people and at one stage he brought an English and German soldier together as they helped one another to save him. In a way it was also sad to see how during war times all these men were seen as mere vehicles and tools to fight and not actual real people with feelings and families and talents...just like the horses/animals are seen by some.
The film ended on a happy tone, there were snowflakes falling over the soldiers as the war came to an end and I thought how every single flake is unique..like all those soldiers that died and how sad it is that war almost, or well it does dehumanise people. I whispered to my friend, do u think the snowflakes signify something? She sort of looked at me like I was mad but anyway thats what I took from it.
Admittedly, it took a while for me to focus on the film and I thought oh my god, I wont concentrate for 145 minutes! But I did and I really enjoyed this movie.
Definately a must see and its 145 minutes of condition free time! xrox
