The evocative melodies and grooves of bossa nova and muisca popular Brasileira from Jobim, Powell, Lins, Nascimento and more in a tribute to the singer who made it famous across the world: the vibrant and tragic genius, Elis Regina, nicknamed "hurricane" and "little pepper." The repertoire includes some well known songs like "Aguas de Marco," "Girl from Ipanema," "Madalena," "Por Toda Minha Vida," "Vera Cruz"

“What they were ...writing, Jobim, Lins, de Moraes, Bosco, Caymmi/Motta, Powell, Buarque, is a pure poetry; lyrically and musically, that truly says something about our world, about power and love, about being human. It is no wonder Elis sang these songs and that this music has an attraction far beyond Brazil - its message is universal.” Emilie Conway

Emilie is accompanied by the Brazilian Jazz Trio, Andre Antunes, drums/percussion, Robson Rocha, guitar, both from Brazil and, from Dublin Dave Mooney, bass. They play in many bands notably Gavin Friday, FORRO, The Dave Mooney Quartet, +55 and Republic of Loose. +55 play a very popular session of Brazilian music at the Odeon every Sunday where their residency is now in its fourth year.

“Emilie Conway is a heart stealer. She possesses a voice like an angel, smooth, mellow sincere and deeply connected to both music and lyrics. She is no imitator but has a fresh approach and a sound that lingers on.” Fionna Duncan, UK

“A wonderful talent. Emilie sings her songs from her heart. She really means what she sings.” Sheila Jordan, US

”Emilie Conway is a jazz vocalist who will melt your heart to butter and then spread it on a freshly baked croissant on a warm Paris morning. Yes, folks, she’s that good!” Stephen Kennedy, Nighthawks. IRL
