I know that I shouldn't let them in, that those little phrases and fantastical images I see and hear every day are carefully designed to play on my fears so that somebody somewhere can profit selling a product, but the marketing industry knows its business!

We've all heard the catch phrases that they come up with to make us regret every bite we eat, that create an image of food which is stripped of nutrition and goodness and that make us feel under pressure to...well...listen to condition. A week or two ago in Saturday group somebody quoted one (I think maybe Kate Moss came out with?) and it got to me. In spite of my learning to own my own values, in spite of my recognising the nonsense and lack of logic, reality or substance in the phrase, it knawed at me. Won't repeat it as I don't want anybody else hit!

The point is, smart people do degrees in this marketing stuff. Large corporations spend millions paying said smart people to come up with smart, catchy phrases which cultivate condition.

But here's the thing. Even if no large multinational plans to pay us to, there are a lot of smart, well spoken, media aware people on Iceberg - surely between the lot of us we can come up with some catchy counter marketing phrases? Some one-liners to say in our heads when we hear some silly model coming out with a line which could otherwise damage our thinking for the day?

Now, not one who's qualified to do the marketing thing myself I can only offer some rudimentary suggestions to get the ball rolling...so, if anybody can take the suggestions below and improve them, or have their own suggestions, please add them. We could all do with nice little one-liner tools!

Seeing as the phrase which knocked me sideways last week had to do with how something "feels" (said something which we can't feel at all anyway!!), let's start with feeling...

"Each little nutrient is reflected in the eyes which they help sparkle."

"I give myself the energy to shine."

"I choose to fuel my passion for life."

"My body needs nutrition to let sunshine and laughter into my soul."

Now, could some of you with imagination and good english please get going on this!!!!!
