2011 - let's list all the Good News....
Another end of the year is here, good time to recapture and to learn. When we learn than every year can be a good year.
When we repeat all our good news and all our successes, we learn to believe in them more, they can grow…
If someone asked you: What was the best thing in 2011 that happened to you – what would you say?
Let's list all the good news in 2011 - never anything is too small, let's start.......
Looking forward to hear from you:)

Great idea, Marie...
There were a few "best" things in 2011, I guess...
the very first things that came spontaneously to mind for me are:
* I became a care worker
* after fighting teeth and nails, I got a job back and I like it and I work in a good team
* I went to Lanzarote with MTC for the first time ever :-)
* my dad became a cancer survivor and I am proud of him
* my little sister married her best friend
....
I am sure there are more highlights, will add them on once they pop into my mind.

We were just talking about this in group tonight and really got me thinking so i'll just write down a few things so that I don't forget that some good things DID happen in 2011..
* My mam became a cancer survivor getting the final all clear after 6 years of uncertainty :)
* I found Marino.
* I passed my driving test 2nd time lucky.
* I got my dog.
I love this thread and i was going to start to write my own list in my new diary ..
The best thing that happened to me was that i got engaged to the most wonderful guy a week before christmas and have enjoyed sharing the celebrations with our families and friends. This has made me feel more confident and feminine and realizations of what is important to me, its alsovery exciting..
I was told to livge my life now, after all the years of therapy i was told you are recovered!!
Relationships with my sisters have got a lot stronger..
Happy New Year!!
Love Butterfly xx
It's so important for us to reflect on the positives that have happened during 2011.
A few of my positives are:
-Graduating from College in November and now have my degree which I have been working for for 4 years.
-This year I have begun learning more drums and am finally getting more confident in my playing.
- I have also been blessed in my work, I meet so many strong fighters and feel so inspired by many of them.
I'm looking forward to bringing more of this positivity into my 2012.

Great idea to write down the good stuff! I was just talking about this to a friend, who said the best way to move positively into the future whenever we feel a bit stuck is to practice gratitude for how things are right now.
Great things that have happened for me this year:
-I've begun to teach Italian, which I love.
-I've been going to more regular yoga classes, and trying out different styles, learning a lot about energy-bodies and the mind-body-spirit connection.
-I have prioritised my health.
-I've started to learn to tune into my body at deeper and deeper levels.
-I'm really getting to see how we are the architects of our own lives, and we have the power to choose what we want to let in and keep out - having all this responsibility can be a bit scary, but is also fantastic!
-I've come back to carework.
-I'm sure there is lots more too, and that there will be lots more in 2012!
in 2011. hmm. i've progressed in recovery, definitely biggest challenge this year was passing the 4th med exams! i still cant believe that i passed them. and also going to lanzarote this year was amazing! I miss and love everybody who went to lanzarote. brilliant brilliant group =]]]]]].. and of course to everyone else too grin. and lastly surfing was the most awesome experience i ever had in my life and i would love to do it again!
After been made redundant the end of last year, following my review in May was made permanent in June.
My brother and girlfriend got engaged
Got to spend loads of time with my gorgeous niece and seeing her personality develop more and more
My holiday to Peru and hiking to Machu Picchu - the simplicity of life there and the people I met
After having done the yoga for over a year-and-a-half now, the back sciatica has not flared up in a long time - some minor issues occasionally, but nothing like they were
Following my mum's diagnosis recently, sent a former friend an olive branch (text), as it puts things into perspective, and even though have not heard back, that is ok, as for me I needed to at least try - it was done for me, rather than the ultimate outcome.
With mum's diagnosis, have never been so honest to people, when asked how I am.
Returning to my love of ice skating, now that the rinks are back, and am loving it.
Enjoying buying things for my niece - whether that is a dvd, a book or some clothes - I enjoy spoiling her :D. I ended up buying some books for her today, as when I am reading a book to her she is reading to me as she knows the stories so well, so definitely time for some new books.
I must say, I've just enjoyed reading everyone else's replies to this thread - it's interesting to see how many various achievements and happy experiences people have had. I think the process of recovery really helps develop a sense of appreciation.
I've loads to be grateful for when I look back, if I start counting all the new challenges I've dealt with well and all those little moments where I felt happy.
- I attended two weddings during the summer, the second of which was in New York( :-)! ), and at which I sang with my sister. It was my cousin's wedding, and the Irish hymns we sang were much appreciated by his American bride's family. The whole trip was wonderful and I had great fun with the sister and cousin I was travelling with in particular.
- I finished a gorgeous year teaching first class, and then got fifth in September...and I've really enjoyed the challenges brought by this class. I'm enjoying being an increasingly recovered teacher in general - I love knowing i'm setting a positive example for the next generation. This is such a motivation for me, which brings me to my next point.
- I love the fact that this year i truly began to crave full recovery, and believe in my own ability to achieve it. 2012 will absolutely be my year.
- I worked with a group of friends on a performance for a competition, and we got through to the next round (in January...!). We all really enjoyed the whole project, and I also got named 'Best Female' by the judges, which was lovely because i'd put in quite a lot of work and the little bit of recognition was appreciated.
- My mother (to continue the trend of people beating cancer) got the all clear in May.
- I went out with someone for a couple of months, which was a fairly good experience overall, and allowed me to move forward in my own personal journey, in areas I didn't have the opportunity to move up until then.
- An evening that stands out for me is the Thursday of the week of my birthday (I don't know why I remember the exact day of the week!), when my sister and I went to see the film 'Bridesmaids' together. It just sticks in my mind how super it was to sit there, laughing my head off, with one of my favourite people in the world.
- I had a ball at Imelda May's gig in the O2 the week before Christmas...but i already went on about that in a post, so I'll leave it at that!:P
I hope I haven't bored anyone with my list. It was fun to make it, and i'm sure there are many, many more things i'm lucky to have i'm grateful for having experienced in 2011.
Oh yes, and thanks to all icebergers, who helped me to help myself get where I am now so happy to be.
You are all stars. Take that personally.
The very best to everyone in the coming year - you can make it whatever you want it to be. So can I - yay!

Like Michelle said, it's great to read everyone's good news! Just a little reply to Michelle - I am absolutely sure that this will be your year!! Was delighted to read the strong self-affirmative post:)!!
I was just re-checking this post to see what good news from 2011 others had added and I saw this lovely bit of encouragement so I had to reply.
Thank you girasole. It means a lot to get such reassurance from an iceberg owl. We're agreed on that then: 2012 = Michelle's year - I may keep at it so!;P
The great thing is, it really can be "My year" for anyone - it's just a matter of saying "Yes" to life.
I've gone iceberg-mad today but there are plenty of days (full weeks!) where I don't get a chance to do more than glance at a post or two, so I suppose this is called achieving a balance!
Plus, it's a compliment to everyone who uses iceberg that I can spend so much time reading posts and replies.
Long may it continue:)

(PS Come on lads and ladies, stick some of your learning or happy moments down here if you have even three minutes to spare - it's not too late to look back and take the positive from 2011!)
Just to add to my list, I got an e-mail from an old friend, whom I had lost touch with after moving to Dublin. I had been thinking of her lately, and then I get an e-mail from her, she is no longer in Ireland, so we have agreed to talk via Skype in a few days time, so will be good to catch up. It is funny how I had been thinking of her, and then she e-mails me. I love synchronicities like that :).
