Nourishing yummy snacks!!!!

...some suggestions...

Hi there, beautiful Eva...

Good on you... NOURISH AND REPAIR. That's the best attitude ever for recovery!!!

I remember, when I began to nourish myself more regularly, the phase we'd call "mechanical eating" (as your body and you might not yet be properly connected and thus, the listening to the body and its signals for "feed me" not quite restored) to start up the metabolism once again and feed and fuel this precious instrument called my body, I was alomst overwhelmed with the task...but sure, my body was crying out for it and so so thankful. I was advised to eat every two to three hours, feed the metablism, the more fuel you give the more fuel it will burn the more energy you have...
At times I felt the time was going too fast and before I realised it there were three, four hours gone, the aul condition smirking around the corner...
What I did was: I put reminders in my mobile phone... every morning after breakfast i put reminders in my phone every two and a half hours... these reminders also acted as affirmations, e.g. "Hello my beautiful freedom fighter, you are doing great here, live life and enjoy the moment...and nourish your body, so that your soul can move back in..."
So with this I reminded myself to have a snack or a meal.

Snack-wise, I love nuts, I still never leave the house without my little tub filled with nuts, just in case I get hungry or peckish... My favourites are hazel and almonds, but I also love pekan and brasil and cashew... If you get yourself a little tub you can mix and match them yourself...

Bananas became another great snack. God, the condition hated bananas, what a silly myth, bananas make you fat, ha ha ha ha ha, ridiculous, really. Nowadays I love two slices of brown bread, toasted, spread some coconut oil on it, the peanut butter and on top a banana. This is the most fantastic, yummy tropical second breakfast ever... oh, and a sprinkle of cinnamon, yum!!!!!

I, too, got into hard boiled eggs...

Well, that's it for the moment,
Love and support,
xxx Robin xxx

Those snacks sound very nice

Those snacks sound very nice and nourishingcheeky.....they will repair my tired aching body!! I have to trust that they are good for me and not the enemy. I have neglecting my body long enough....i have to give recovery a bash!!!! We have to look at foods in terms of a ix of nutrients...rather than getting bogged down in one aspect. For example a yogurt provides protein, calcium, magnesium, phospherus and a whole lot more....i used to think of it as only calories and sugar that my body did not need. Healthy eating is all about balance rather than 'all or nothing'. I know its hard but we CAN AND WILL do it!!!

Hi Eva,   I would suggest

Hi Eva,

I would suggest high protein for healing and repail, and slow-release, complex carbohydrates that will keep your blood sugars level and prevent the energy drop and mood swings that go with irratic blood sugar levels!

Snacks that helped me in recovery were:

Nuts (any type) or nuts mixed with some dried fruit

Seeds with dried fruit

Roasted Edamame (soya) beans

Hard boiled eggs (for more info on the benefits of eggs, click HERE)

Oatcakes with topppings such as houmous/peanut butter/cheese/cottage cheese

Dark chocolate

Yoghurts with a handful of muesli or oats and dried fruit and/or seeds mixed through (no low-fat//low taste substitutes!)

Remember, snacking is important to help boast our tired metabolic rate and prevent cravings and help lower those food thoughts.
