Freedom Food Thinking Suggestions
From working with people I can see a lot that so many of you, who are still in recovery and finding very difficult the nourishing part. I know that is the part that takes the longest time to look after, but it is a very important part which cannot be ignored and often it is big obstacle to your further progress.
We spent more energy on what to eat than how to eat, and how to change our thinking around it. I will start serial of different tips and share with you what does help us to nourish ourselves the way our bodies needs. Hopefully some of these tips I will share with you can make this process easier for you.
First ask yourself: “What do I think when I am trying to nourish myself? “![]()
If you want to make your nourish process easier, you need to focus on changing your thinking. Many people scare themselves too much, create scenarios full of fears which will never happen anyway. We spend more energy worrying of what is going to happen then reassuring ourselves with what is happening. These fears are cause of unpleasant bloating and high levels of stress
Another Tip: Is it you or your ED condition who is sitting at the table?![]()
Please, make a decision that your condition is not invited to dine with you – just you or your friend – you can even visualise other Icebergers – they are great company...
Your nourishment needs to be for you, your precious body – not for your self-destruction...
For today – please take a vitamin R – Relax – very important one. Sometimes we do not realise how the deficiency can have a negative consequences on our bodies....

Little story for you:
Once upon a time the members of the body were very annoyed with the stomach. They were resentful that they had to procure food and bring it to the stomach while the stomach itself did nothing but devour the fruit of their labour.
So they decided they would no longer bring the stomach food. The hands would not lift it to the mouth. The teeth would not chew it. The throat would not swallow it. That would force the stomach to do something.
But all they succeeded in doing was make the body weak to the point that they were all threatened with death.
So it was finally they who learned the lessen that in helping one another they were really working for their own welfare.
The mind-body connections - interactions that take place between your mind, body, and behavior
A strong body improves the mind. And, the improved mind in turn to improve the physical body.
The mind-body connection means that you can learn to use your thoughts to positively influence some of your body’s physical responses.

Stop counting calories and start to count memories
If you want to be free, you need to stop counting calories!!!
So many people are still counting calories without questioning it. All these so called “nutritional advises” are just marketing strategies.
Your body does not have a calculator, it does not count every evening what you were eating, that is illusion.
Your body is running about 3 to 5 thousands chemical reactions and for that it needs a lot of energy, the more regular you nourish your body – the more it will burn and the more energy you will have and the faster it will repair the damage the ED caused.
Remember – your body and specially your brain need constant supply of energy to be able to run all these chemical reactions.
See your body as a chemical factory and you are the manager.
What type of manager are you – be a smart one from now on!!!!

I'd love to think of some deep and meaningful response to your tips Marie, but all I can say is thanks.
The more I do, the more I want to do, and the less I want distorted thoughts to have even the slightest impact on my actions. Thank you for all your help, and I especially love that these particular tips are easily remembered -my brain needs a constant energy supply, food is for functioning, ED is not allowed at the table, I can think relaxing, pro-Michelle thoughts when I nourish myself, and imagin my body saying, "Thanks, friend!"

YOUR BRAIN
Let’s focus on our brain a little bit?
Is your brain important to you? How often do you think about it?
Our brain is only 2% of our body weight, but it takes nearly 30% of our energy.
Brain cannot store energy and needs constant supply, where does your brain get the energy if you do not give enough?
So, let’s keep it simple today – think about your brain, when nourishing yourself, visualise your brain and visualise all that energy what its need – please give it!!! You will not regret it, you will concentrate better, you will create more neurotransmitters, you will be able to think clearer – so let’s start now!!! Go for the brain power!!!

Another Tip - Learn to build up Metabolic Rate
Metabolic rate is the speed at which the body uses energy which it needs for the constant process of replacing and renewing cells in all its parts while asleep and at rest, for the digestion of food and for activity.
People use most energy not for activity but for the functioning of their vital organs like the brain, heart and kidneys.
Once the nutrients have entered the bloodstream and lymphatic vessels, absorption is complete and metabolism begins.
The process of metabolism is the conversion of these nutrients into building materials is known asANABOLISM, and includes the construction of chemicals, hormones, body tissue enzymes and blood.
The conversion of nutrients into energy is called CATABOLISM and takes place by combining oxygen with the breakdown products of glucose and other tissue fuels. The result is energy, carbon dioxide, and water.
MR drops when person goes on low energy food intake.It’s nature’s way of conserving energy.
We use energy even if we do nothing – we are still breathing and functioning.
And remember - Laughter increases your metabolic rate! So laugh and nourish yourself and you will build up your metabolic rate!

The distorted thinking for me reaches deep into ideas and notions around nourishment. I never ever thought of food as fuel and nourishment - how so so distorted. Food was a foe not a friend. How different in hindsight I now feel. Those thoughts, beliefs were so far off the truth that they now seem absolutely bizarre. At the moment I'm minding my Dad's garden. I was given a strict imperative that the flowers in the hanging baskets will die without water for two days. I was watching a cookery programme before I went to water the flowers and the chef talked about his garden and that it is not so much a hobby as it is taking care of, minding or nurturing something. That plucked my thickest string and reverberated deeply and loudly within me. So as I watered the hanging baskets I did not venture to think 'oh that pansey is looking a little thick around its petals no water for you or that rose had water only yesterday it can survive another day' - all acceptable condition beliefs. So what if I am 'thick around the middle' - is there even such a thing, who says so! Why would I sacrifice my health for some image I think others believe I should have. Life is for living, loving, laughing, smiling, celebrating so why would I ever sacrifice or deprive my best friend, my perfect instrument all the nutrients it NEEDS because of something I think I see or don't see. Listen to your body, to science, to your nutritionist not a distorted thought magnified by a looking glass. Go for feeling glass, feel inside not look outside. Joyce
