The best anti-depressant!!
I waited for a long time for the anti-depressent that would fix me, kick start my brain back into action when i felt empty and helpless...
I've finally discovered the perfect anti-depressents, they actually work, but there's a catch, it's not as easy as swallowing a pill, it requires taking responsibility and making the choice for yourself to feel better
It's figuring out the small everyday things in life that make you feel alive and then getting up and doing them
Some of the things that work for me:
Putting on one of my favourite songs and dancing like no ones watching! by the time i get half way through the song i have to laugh at myself and all that dancing around makes me feel energised - a welcome change from feeling drained and hopeless
I get up and go outside, breathe in the fresh air and feel the breeze, feel the sun, watch the clouds, it takes me out of my head
Smile :) even if you dont feel it, its much harder to be depressed with a smile on your face, the two just dont go together
I spend time with my dog, give her a belly rub, its impossible to be sad with her around
Paint my nails a bright, happy colour
Wear ridiculous socks for the day, no one else will know but it cheers me up
Make a big mug of tea and watch a funny movie, something lighthearted
The most challenging part is to just start...get up and make the decision to do something that will make you feel better, make it your mission to feel good instead of wallowing
